Verisign FAQ: SSL Basics

At Naira.com, we are all about about consumer protection. Hence, your security online is our utmost priority. To achieve this, we have ensured that our site is Verisign Secured.

1.       What does it mean to be Verisign Secured?

It means that your online protection, in the form of SSL encryption of our site, is provided by Verisign.

2.       What is SSL encryption:

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. SSL encryption allows data to be transferred in an encrypted form over the web making the data secure. A site using SSL encryption is accessible through “https” (HyperText Transfer Protocol with Secure Sockets Layer ) as opposed to “http”.

3.       How to tell if a site is secure.

With so many sites on the Web, it‘s hard to know which are safe to trust, and which to avoid. Luckily, there are a few simple things to look for when determining if a site is secure.

Note that these do not have to be available on every page of the site, but should be available at the point where sensitive data is being collected such as credit card information.

  • Look for the VeriSign Secured® Seal and click on it to verify that the seal is authentic.

Internet Explorer:

  • Ensure that the URL in your address bar begins with HTTPS, not HTTP. That extra “s” is important, as it stands for “secure.”

When you are ready to pay for your purchases on Naira.com, you will be taken to our payment gateway. You will notice that the address starts with https://.
